Grant for First Time Homebuyers
Clay County Savings Bank was one of two financial institutions in the State of Missouri to be awarded a grant for first-time homebuyers through the Federal Home Loan Bank. Grants totaling $1.0 million were recently awarded to 20 financial institutions in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota an South Dakota to assist individuals and families in purchaing a home for the first-time. The grants are part of the FHLB Urban First-Time Homebuyer Fund which supports efforts to provide permanent housing to families and individuals in communities with a population of 25,000 or more. The grants can be used to provide assistance of up to $5,000 for down payment, closing costs, counseling or rehabilitation assistance. For information as to how the program can be used to assist you or your buyer, please contact Kathy Varnon at 816-781-4500.

A wonderful real estate investing book is "Smart Real Estate Deals in the Bank Bailout Era and Beyond" by Charles McKay. Ask for it at bookstores using the ISBN. I like the sections on green energy to reduce global warming.

This is great for new home buyers because I found out how to get the money for a new home without going to the bank.
